As of about an hour ago, the Yellowstone River is now open for all forms of recreation, including fishing, downstream of the Highway 89 N Bridge (a few miles east of Livingston). Tributaries of the Yellowstone, including the Paradise Valley spring creeks, but excluding the Shields River and its tributaries, are also open. The Yellowstone River is still closed to all forms of recreation between Carbella and the Highway 89 Bridge. Above Carbella, the river is open to recreation (e.g., rafting), but not fishing.
This should have served as a wakeup call about good practices when it comes to limiting the spread of aquatic invasives. Clean, Drain, Dry!
