Just a little poetry, if you’re into that kind of thing!
It’s the first entry in our new series, “An Angler’s Journal – Thoughts & Feelings,” in which we’ll explore a bit of fly fishing esoterica. Lean back, pour yourself a libation, and get comfy!
“Things I Hold True”
The stony indifference of an earth afire, the shimmer of jewels hidden deep beneath
The ominous shadow of dark wings, tirelessly circling over the infinite temporary
The grateful scars of a joyous soul again borne skyward in the eagle’s amber talons
Wild rivers scoffing at our puny efforts to contain theirs wanders and meanders
The sweet sadness of a life spent losing and winning, a mind at war with itself
Absurd strength in the face of a body’s rebellion, a heart bruised but not splintered
The fiery determination of fierce women, the gentle decency of humble men
When they order us to attack, let us withdraw
When they urge us to wait, let us press forward
Let us raise our voices in unison to drown out injustice in all its disguises
And let us bravely wield the sword of kindness in a world awash with hate’s cowardice
