With Valentine’s Day coming up, a love letter of a sort…
Heart Rock
Infinite current smoothing the jagged edges of our younger selves
Soft water caressing away one grain at a time, rolling onward through our past
Our future constrained but not calcified by the minerals of our becoming
By the river that swirls and grabs, the gravity that tugs ever earthward
Always the threat of crumbling, should the whims of fate send us bouncing downstream
Watery fingers, won’t you pry gently at the sharp crystals of my sadness
Weather the hards and the softs of my history into a shape imperfect yet ideal
Carve hope unexpected from the crags of a long petrified soul
And whittle my stony cynicism into a symbol of love ever absurd
