Women’s 2-Day Fly Fishing School with Guide and Outfitter, Kara Tripp:
Whether you are a beginner or want to sharpen or learn new skills, Sweetwater Fly Shop’s 2-Day Women’s School will arm you with the tools and knowledge you need to hit the water with confidence. Topics covered will include knots, casting, reading water, and Entomology. Attendees will also fish both days on one of our incredible local waters.
Course Dates:
July 11 & 12, 2020
August 8 & 9, 2020
Cost: $780 per person
Includes: Classroom instruction with materials, lunch, rod, reel, boots, waders, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Not included: Montana fishing license (available at the shop or online), alcoholic beverages, lodging, breakfast or dinner, or gratuity.
50% deposit will be taken at time of registration. Deposit will be fully refundable up to 30 days before the clinic. If cancelled within that 30-day period, deposit will be refunded if there is a replacement.

2-Day Rowing School with Guide and Outfitter, Kara Tripp
Whether you have fallen victim to “Don’t row, don’t go”, want to hone your skills behind the oars, or just want to learn, Sweetwater Fly Shop’s 2-Day Rowing School will fill the bill. Your instructors will cover various topics both in the classroom and on the water, including, but not limited to:
- Boating safety
- Required equipment
- Ramp ‘rules’ – launch, safety, etiquette
- River etiquette
- Boat positioning and handling for effective fishing
- Fishing techniques and reading water from a drift boat
While there will be some classroom time, a majority of your two days will be spent practicing your new skills on the iconic Yellowstone River in Montana’s spectacular Paradise Valley.

October 3 & 4, 2020
Cost: $525*
Attendees will spend time floating the Yellowstone River for practical and hands-on instruction.
Includes: Classroom instruction with materials, on-river instruction, lunch, non-alcoholic beverages.
Not included: Montana fishing license (available at the shop or online), lodging, alcohol.
*Two attendees required per boat for two-day classes. Can adapt the schedule for a single student.
Instruction available for women, men, couples, or singles.

Beginners Spey Clinic with Guide KynsLee Scott – Saturday, August 18 (Corrected from July 18)
Join Sweetwater Fly Shop and Elite G. Loomis Ambassador, OPST’s Women’s Ambassador, and Montana and Washington (single and two-handed) fishing guide KynsLee Scott, for a beginners Spey clinic.
Clinic will be limited to six attendees. In the event the clinic is filled, a waiting list will be established.
Course Schedule:
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- Classroom
- Basics of Spey of casting
- Applications of fishing (swinging)
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Lunch
12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
- Casting on the water.
- KynsLee will provide one-on-one instruction.
During your time with KynsLee, you will be introduced to the basic principles of Spey casting. You will learn about rods, lines, reels, and leaders as well as the differences between traditional and Spey equipment and casting. After lunch, we will get on the water where you will put to use the practical knowledge you learned in the classroom. KynsLee will work with you individually on the water to help you with your cast and to answer any questions you might have.
Cost: $150.00 per person. 50% deposit will be required at time of registration.
Included: Equipment – rods, reels, line, etc. Lunch and non-alcoholic beverages will be included in your day. NOTE: If you have a spey/switch rod, feel free to bring it along.
Not included: Montana fishing license (available at the shop or online), waders, boots, and any personal equipment. Note: Waders and boots are available at the shop if needed.
